I like a bargain like anyone else, especially these days. And true, there’s a lot that’s available on the Internet at no charge, but there are products and services that you will eventually need to pay for if you plan to do business on the Internet.

For instance, if you’re going to promote your own business or someone else’s as an affiliate, you’re going to need a website. Initially, you can use some of the Web 2.0 services such as free WordPress blogs, Hub Pages, and Squidoo Lenses, but eventually you will need to “professionalize” your web presence. Also, there may be software and training tools that enhance your efforts and at the right time you may decide you want to purchase them.

Registrar – where you get your domain names (http://yourdomain.com)

GoDaddy.com is the registrar that I use. I have more than 100 domain names registered with GoDaddy. It is very competitive and and many times runs specials, especially for people who are interested in transferring their domain name from another registrar. Back in the day, a domain name would set you back $25-$35. In fact, there are registrars who still try to get that much. At GoDaddy.com, you’ll pay around $10 and often less than that if they’re running a special.
