I like a bargain like anyone else, especially these days. And true, there’s a lot that’s available on the Internet at no charge, but there are products and services that you will eventually need to pay for if you plan to do business on the Internet.

For instance, if you’re going to promote your own business or someone else’s as an affiliate, you’re going to need a website. Initially, you can use some of the Web 2.0 services such as free WordPress blogs, Hub Pages, and Squidoo Lenses, but eventually you will need to “professionalize” your web presence. Also, there may be software and training tools that enhance your efforts and at the right time you may decide you want to purchase them.

Check back every once in a while because I will be adding to this list. Also note – I will not have anything on this list that I have not purchased myself. So if you have any questions about a particular product or service, I’d be happy to answer them. Just twitter me!

Hosting

Since I do affiliate marketing, I have a bunch of sites and as a result I use several hosting services. Following is the one that I find to be very competitive and has great customer service (which is very important, trust me).

Hostgator (arguably one of the best hosting companies around) has an incredible deal where you pay $7.95/month for hosting and you can host as many domains as you want with a single hosting account. That’s right! Unlimited website hosting for less than what most people pay for just one website. And I’m going to let you in on a secret. That same account includes automatic WordPress blog set-up and thousands of professionally designed website templates from which to choose and use. An absolute steal of a deal, designed especially for regular folks who don’t know a thing about programming. And you can get started for a penny!

For a limited time, if you sign up with Hostgator, I will install your WordPress blog for you…free of charge, complete with a half dozen plugins that makes your site search engine friendly and also the design template of your choice. Why am I doing this? It’s Casie’s Kiss…

Registrar – where you get your domain names (http://yourdomain.com)

GoDaddy.com is the registrar that I use. I have more than 100 domain names registered with GoDaddy. It is very competitive and and many times runs specials, especially for people who are interested in transferring their domain name from another registrar. Back in the day, a domain name would set you back $25-$35. In fact, there are registrars who still try to get that much. At GoDaddy.com, you’ll pay around $10 and often less than that if they’re running a special.
