Every mom needs a toolkit for those times when life gets overwhelming. I’m not talking about the clanking one you need to fix pipes or equipment in the home (though when the cupboard door falls off its hinges from being repeatedly swung on by your child despite your asking them many times to stop, it pays to have one of those too and hopefully someone who knows how to use it!). But what a mom really needs and the kind I’m talking about here, is a set of resources that you can dip into when you need some stress relief.
You may need some full on time out or it maybe something that gives you a quick pick-me-up and gets you back on your way.
You probably have a few resources that you use when times get tough but if they are tea, coffee, cigarettes, cakes, chocolate and alcohol then you really ought to throw them out of the toolkit. Sure they can be great short term fixes at times but often the after effects make you feel far worse. And why not just enjoy them because you want to, not because you just have to have them to get out of the emotional bind you’ve found yourself in.
