Often in a family it comes down to the mother to carry much of the load for organising family life and the home. While this isn’t always the case recent statistics continue to show that women still do the majority of child rearing and housework. But a family is a team and in a team each member needs to learn how to carry their own weight. This goes for getting other members of the team to contribute to the running of the family but it also means that moms need to make sure they look after their own needs too.
Because let’s face it, there is no point trying to raise a child if you lose yourself. This isn’t a good way to show your children how to parent but also if you don’t replenish yourself, what do you have to offer your children?
If you think of a world class sporting team, you know that every member of that team must look after their skill development, fitness, diet and general well being. They are responsible for their own training and they owe it to the team to take care of themselves. If they don’t, they will likely get sidelined. The last thing the underperforming team member wants is to be forced to stand on the sides and watch their team perform without them.
Families are like that too. While each member of the family is ultimately responsible for themselves, when children are young, they depend on their parents to be able to help them out. To do this parents and especially moms have to look after their own needs.
