OK, hands up all parents who haven’t felt guilty about something at some point during their parenting. Right, no-one huh? It seems that guilt and parenting are very cosy bedfellows these days. It is so easy to let it smother you. We all want so much in our lives and for our children that when things don’t turn out as expected (which can feel like most of the time!) then the guilt sets in and we plunge into a merciless battle of should haves, could haves, and would haves…

But one area that seems to be mandated in guilt is child care. Letting other people care for your children seems to many parents to be an unwelcome necessity, something they must put up with because they need to have two incomes coming in to support the family. While you may not be able to change this financial necessity, you can change the way you think about child care and stop beating yourself up about it.
